Blog for Books

Tomorrow is a big day because it is time for Blog for Books!

Blog for Books Friday is the day that we want to see the power of social media harnessed for good.  LRTweetup wants every member with a blog (i.e. WordPress, tumblog, posterous, whatever) to Blog for Books in honor of Reach Out & Read Arkansas.

"How do I Blog for Books?"

We want you to tell the world about your favorite children’s book.

Be creative!  Inspire them to discuss their favorite children’s book too.  We’ve all got one. Honestly, we can’t wait to read everyone’s post about the book you love.

Please be sure to link up to http://littlerock.twestival.com or http://lrtweetup.com so your readers can learn about Reach Out and Read Arkansas and can join in the twestival fun.

Let’s celebrate the books that made us readers

Let’s celebrate the gift of literacy.

Remember that we are all doing this to create awareness for Reach Out & Read Arkansas.

Imagine…

What’s so important about getting involved with Reach out and Read Arkansas?

Imagine if you couldn’t read this sentence.

Imagine a family never having money for frivolous things like books when they are trying to feed little mouths.

In fact you don’t have to imagine. Here are the facts:

-In Arkansas 56% of adults read at a 4th grade level.

-50% of our children are not prepared for kindergarten.

Imagine you can do something to change this sobering reality. You can!

You can join us in supporting Reach out and Read Arkansas. ror.AR.186

Reach Out and Read Arkansas (RORA) is on the front lines fighting early childhood illiteracy. RORA works with pediatricians to inform parents of the importance of reading and provides books to these families.

RORA is doing a great job but they need your help.

One of the ways you can join the cause is to attend the first annual LRTweetup Twestival and support Reach out and Read Arkansas. $10 bucks and book (at least 1) gets you in the door.

The event will be held Thursday Sept 10, starting at 5:30P at the Clinton Presidential Library.

You can purchase tickets online and get all the details at LRTweetup.com/twestival
