Localizing your Twitter stream

LRTweetup’s first goal is to act as a connection catalyst. Through our online community and offline events we hope to be a community that makes introductions and allows good friends to continue to connect.

Personally I’ve discovered that connecting with more locals through Twitter has added a ton of value and interaction to my Twitter stream. A few months ago if I needed local info or wanted to be plugged into local events Twitter wasn’t very useful. The Little Rock community wasn’t very active on Twitter and I didn’t know many locals that used Twitter. LRTweetup radically solved that problem. It’s been such a amazing benefit that we’ve been looking for a way for you to easily increase the number of awesome local folks in your Twitter stream.

Introducing the TweepML LRTweetup List

TweepML.or is a new service that allows you to build a group of users that others can easily follow. We jumped at the opportunity to build a LRTweetup list so interested people can increase their local connections in a single click.

The list can be found at http://tweepml.org/LRTweetup

This list currently includes 37 people and it’s by no means comprehensive, so we are asking for your help. You can suggest people to be included on this list by following the links on the sidebar of the page, look for “Suggest to the List Creator”.

This is such a great way to help others plug into the larger LRTweetup community so please follow and suggest so we can help everyone localize their Twitter community.

Improv you can’t Improve

How do you improve on the best Improv comedy troupe on earth?

You can’t. Unless you decide to see it with 30 friends, and this was precisely the experience of LRTweetup at the Arkansas Rep this past Thursday.

The Rep opened Club Mezz to LRTweetup and the laid back atmosphere in addition to great food and good friends made it the perfect place to hang out prior to the show. We could have chatted all night. Then at 8 pm it all changed.

The lights dimmed and Second City took the stage.

I’m a huge comedy fan and I was prepared to be impressed but I wasn’t prepared for seeing perfect improv live. The performers’ quick wit and impeccable timing left you speechless in between gasps of laughter. From their political satire to old skit revivals it was a treasure to behold. All of us spent the evening in tears.

I can’t recommend Second City enough. They are performing at the Rep through Oct 18 so there is still time to catch this amazing show.

A big Thank-you to the Rep (@theRep) for offering the discount tickets and the venue for the gathering and thanks to Angel (@angelmg) for making this all happen.

Last Call for Laughs, #LRTweetup this Thu!
