Blessed. Grateful

As I reflect on the blessings in my life I can’t help but be overwhelmed when I consider how 140 characters and #hashtag has changed my world.

I’ve met more amazing people in the past 7 months than I could have possibly imagined. Brilliant, caring, wonderful people. I’ve made great friends with people that I likely would have never known except for LRTweetup. Out of this new world and a strange name a community has risen.

We are a testament to the power of people coming together.

Today, I am thankful for you.

Happy Thanksgiving.

“What began as a casual conversation about the social media snowball Twitter has become one of the newest networking outlets for young professionals in central Arkansas.

“Tweetups are kind of a nationwide thing that people on Twitter have been doing in different cities around the country,” said Natalie Ghidotti, owner of Ghidotti Communications of Little Rock. “We just started talking among a few of us that were on Twitter here in Little Rock that we need to have a tweetup.”

Spirit of the Season, December #LRTweetup

The holiday season is just around the corner and this is a time of year that we are especially mindful of our blessings and reminded of our duty to show good will to our fellow man. The LRTweetup community has been a blessing to all of us and we are committed to being a positive force of change in our corner of the world.

We wanted to respect your crowded schedule and yet offer events that are unique, fun, charitable, and memorable. Mindful of these goals and in the spirit of the season LRTweetup is blessed to announce our Holiday events.

Yes, Events. Plural.

December #LRTweetup at @IOMetro benefiting @ProjectOurHouse

ourhouseio.metro.logo.brown horizontal

Thursday, December 10

@IOMetro is opening the doors of their new space to LRTweetup and @ProjectOurHouse.

To celebrate I.O. Metro is doing a @ProjectOurHouse promotion from Dec. 11-Dec. 18. A portion of ALL sales at IOM for that week will go to Our House!

Project Our House is a group of UALR mass communication students using social media to drive donations to the local working homeless shelter, Our House. Our House provides the working homeless with safe, clean, comfortable housing; food; free child care; education; and job training.

This is a huge opportunity and we are thrilled that they want to partner with LRTweetup to help spread the word and raise money for Our House. In addition to the promotion they are offering a 25% discount to all LRTweetup attendees on Thu Dec 10 and the discount is good through Sat Dec 12. They’ll be providing food and beverage Thursday evening so come out and enjoy some amazing people, amazing furniture, and learn more about what you can do to get involved with Project Our House.

We’ll be providing more details in a few days but we wanted to go ahead and announce the event so you can make plans attend.

Lights over #LRTweetup at Garvan Woodland Gardens

GarvanGardens08 003

Saturday December 19

It’s Christmas. What better way to celebrate than to experience the best light display in Arkansas with family and friends?

If you’ve never seen the lights at Garvan Woodland Gardens then you are in for a real treat. Garvan Woodland Gardens comes alive at night during the holidays thanks to 1.7 million lights and the beauty of this lighted landscape is truly a wonder not to be missed.

This is a family event so bring the kids, have some hot chocolate, toast marshmallows and just enjoy.

Cost is $5.50 for adults, $3:50 for children 6-12, free for ages 5 and younger. Sunset is at 5:00 so there is plenty of time to enjoy the lights and still get the little ones into bed at a good time.

Garvan Woodland Gardens is located at 550 Arkridge Road, Hot Springs, Arkansas (map / directions). We’ve got several friends of LRTweetup in Hot Springs so we hope to see some new faces when we visit the Spa City.

We can’t wait.
