November Tweetup – Taco Thanksgiving

Last year as we tripped over the November Tweetup one of the consistent request I received was for a potluck style tweetup. Think Southern Baptist church meets SXSW.

I’ve had about a year to think on it, which is far longer than you all are ever allowed to give me to think again, and a traditional Thanksgiving potluck is just not our style. True @bryanjones does look even more bear like with oven mits and I hear @kellimarks makes an awesome stuffin’ muffin (make up your own jokes for those two). However there is one food group that geeks love above all else.

Tacos

Any mexican food will do actually. Best if served from a truck by a guy with a neck beard. So I thought what better than to have a Taco Thanksgiving. Bonus points if you come rocking the neck beard.

Here is how this works. I’ve partnered with Eikon church along with Aaron Reddin, because you know it is the time of giving and all. Eikon is going to hosts us on their Open doors night which means some members of our community will join us. Aaron is going to bring the van by.

You have two options, either bring food or bring a donation for the Van. Think about what you want to do and I’ll kick around a signup sheet in the next couple of days. All are welcome to come eat, tweet, and hangout.

October Tweetup in the Jack (@ualr)

This month @UALR has invited us out to the Jack Stephen’s Center, home of the @ualrtrojan. The concessions stands will be open in the arena with free food and soft drinks, they are also setting up a cash bar for us.

UALR will be holding an open practice while we are there and there will also be a chance to meet some of the players and coaches, if you are into that sort of thing.

End of Summer Tweetup: September 30th, Rock Town Distillery

There are two things we have learned in the past year+ of tweetups.
1)      LRtweeps love their city
2)      LRtweeps like to drink

We decided we wanted to find a cool way to support the city and have a cool drink for our end of summer tweetup. We reached out to our buddy Phil Brandon about coming over and invading @RocktownDistill for a night and after a few samples of Brandon’s he agreed.

Then Phil broke out a freshly bottled Batch #2 of Brandon’s Gin. Long story short Phil and I hashed out a plan for what should be the coolest @LRTweetup ever. We have had special drinks and food before, that is all here, but this tweetup will be one to remember.

August 26th Tweetup: Geeks on the Greens @TheFirstTeeLR

The First Tee of Central ArkansasSo this month we are going to go where few geeks have been before, the golf course, aside from a few games of Tiger Woods on the XBox that is. @TheFirstTeeLR has invited us out on August 26th. They will have drinks and light appetizers and a few fun activities if the weather cooperates (meaning is less than 100°).

So bring your @PGA_JohnDaly loudmouth pants or knickers and hang out with us on Aug 26th (yes it will be indoors).

Just wanted to say a quick thanks for everyone who came out to our first LRTweeties/1 year birthday bash last night. You all made this our largest Tweetup so far.

I’d like to send a special shout out to the others on the planning group with me: @alextcone, @andreasmalec, @angelmg, @ghidotti and @tsudo. Somehow in spite of everything they turned this crazy idea dreamed up over queso into a reality.
