After a winter break we are thrilled to announce the next LRtweetup event and what better place to celebrate with friends this time of year than in a lovely garden in the heart of Little Rock.

Come and enjoy a sampling of their gourmet food, the beautiful surroundings of the Bernice Garden and wet your whistle with wine, water and spirits; as you visit with the friendliest people around Little Rock.

About the Bernice Garden

The Bernice Garden is privately owned but intended for public use and is located at the southeast corner of South Main Street and Daisy Bates Avenue. The garden was created to celebrate the community and will host community events as well as the sculpture exhibit in an effort to foster community interaction and a sense of pride in the neighborhood.

Last year as we tripped over the November Tweetup one of the consistent request I received was for a potluck style tweetup. Think Southern Baptist church meets SXSW.

I’ve had about a year to think on it, which is far longer than you all are ever allowed to give me to think again, and a traditional Thanksgiving potluck is just not our style. True @bryanjones does look even more bear like with oven mits and I hear @kellimarks makes an awesome stuffin’ muffin (make up your own jokes for those two). However there is one food group that geeks love above all else.

Tacos

Any mexican food will do actually. Best if served from a truck by a guy with a neck beard. So I thought what better than to have a Taco Thanksgiving. Bonus points if you come rocking the neck beard.

Here is how this works. I’ve partnered with Eikon church along with Aaron Reddin, because you know it is the time of giving and all. Eikon is going to hosts us on their Open doors night which means some members of our community will join us. Aaron is going to bring the van by.

You have two options, either bring food or bring a donation for the Van. Think about what you want to do and I’ll kick around a signup sheet in the next couple of days. All are welcome to come eat, tweet, and hangout.

Little Rock TweetUp is going back-to-school… or at least helping students get their learning on.

We’ve teamed up with the Junior League of Little Rock to Stuff the Bus. Each year, JLLR supplies students in the Little Rock School District, identified as “most in need,” with the essentials to succeed academically.

Join us Thursday, August 25 at 5:30 p.m. Copper Grill. They will prepare a signature appletini for the evening. We’ll be in the party room in the back.

Admission for the evening is school supplies. Requested items:

• school glue
• 24-count crayons
• loose-leaf wide ruled notebook paper
• #2 pencils

Y’all know I am shameless. I am a Southern woman, and I will go to the guilt if I have to. I fully expect big participation on this school supplies drive. We have shown in the past we can do impressive things. Let’s do it again.
