January #LRTweetup welcomes @ARtourism

by Keith on January 9, 2010 in Events

Ready for a laidback atmosphere? What about a very cool sneak peak?

You can enjoy both at this months tweetup at Prost, Jan 28 5:30pm

prost_

From their site:

Prost the newest addition to Willy D’s Little Rock is now open. Prost is a pub style bar with great beers on tap and a wide selection in bottles. Prost also offers great gourmet sandwiches and sausages. If you are looking for great food and cool chill place to have a beer Prost is for you.

Good food, beer, and some room to chillax sound just right for LRTweetup. Prost is kindly offering a few specials to us and we’ll update you as details come in.

But now for the big news…

Sneak Peak from Arkansas.com

Our friend @DenaJill from Arkansas Parks and Tourism is going let us be the first to see the new social hub of Arkansas.com. How cool is that ? What better place to talk about social and the web than at LRTweetup. We’ll also have all of the Arkansas’ travel bloggers join us for the preview. Social medians and bloggers in the same room could lead some to really interesting ideas about sharing travels from around our beautiful state.

We are so pleased to welcome Dena and the Department of Arkansas Parks and Tourism to this months LRTweetup. We’ve all been watching their innovation and they are just one more reason I’m proud to call Arkansas home. (Maybe if we’re nice we can get a preview of their soon to be released iPhone app).

Please use our twtvite to RSVP and the event to your calendar.

Spirit of the Season, December #LRTweetup

by Keith on November 5, 2009 in Events

The holiday season is just around the corner and this is a time of year that we are especially mindful of our blessings and reminded of our duty to show good will to our fellow man. The LRTweetup community has been a blessing to all of us and we are committed to being a positive force of change in our corner of the world.

We wanted to respect your crowded schedule and yet offer events that are unique, fun, charitable, and memorable. Mindful of these goals and in the spirit of the season LRTweetup is blessed to announce our Holiday events.

Yes, Events. Plural.

December #LRTweetup at @IOMetro benefiting @ProjectOurHouse

Thursday, December 10

@IOMetro is opening the doors of their new space to LRTweetup and @ProjectOurHouse.

To celebrate I.O. Metro is doing a @ProjectOurHouse promotion from Dec. 11-Dec. 18. A portion of ALL sales at IOM for that week will go to Our House!

Project Our House is a group of UALR mass communication students using social media to drive donations to the local working homeless shelter, Our House. Our House provides the working homeless with safe, clean, comfortable housing; food; free child care; education; and job training.

This is a huge opportunity and we are thrilled that they want to partner with LRTweetup to help spread the word and raise money for Our House. In addition to the promotion they are offering a 25% discount to all LRTweetup attendees on Thu Dec 10 and the discount is good through Sat Dec 12. They’ll be providing food and beverage Thursday evening so come out and enjoy some amazing people, amazing furniture, and learn more about what you can do to get involved with Project Our House.

We’ll be providing more details in a few days but we wanted to go ahead and announce the event so you can make plans attend.

Lights over #LRTweetup at Garvan Woodland Gardens

GarvanGardens08 003

Saturday December 19

It’s Christmas. What better way to celebrate than to experience the best light display in Arkansas with family and friends?

If you’ve never seen the lights at Garvan Woodland Gardens then you are in for a real treat. Garvan Woodland Gardens comes alive at night during the holidays thanks to 1.7 million lights and the beauty of this lighted landscape is truly a wonder not to be missed.

This is a family event so bring the kids, have some hot chocolate, toast marshmallows and just enjoy.

Cost is $5.50 for adults, $3:50 for children 6-12, free for ages 5 and younger. Sunset is at 5:00 so there is plenty of time to enjoy the lights and still get the little ones into bed at a good time.

Garvan Woodland Gardens is located at 550 Arkridge Road, Hot Springs, Arkansas (map / directions). We’ve got several friends of LRTweetup in Hot Springs so we hope to see some new faces when we visit the Spa City.

We can’t wait.
